Filing Cabinet Redo and Magnets
Nothing like a boring day around the house to spark some creativity! JoAnn's Fabrics has scrapbook paper 5 for $1 right now so I bought a bunch of different kinds of paper. I took two of those papers, some Mod Podge and poof the filing cabinet is no longer an ugly black, well, filing cabinet!
Materials Needed:
Scrapbook paper
Mod Podge
Scissors
Pencil
Ruler
Paint Brush/Sponge
Step 1:
First measure out where the holes need to be cut to fit the label windows and handles. I used an Exact o Knife to cut out the holes so I could get a clean cut.
Step 2:
"Paint" the Mod Podge onto the filing cabinet. Place scrapbook paper onto the filing cabinet. Smooth out all the bubbles.
Step 3:
"Paint" the scrapbook paper and filing cabinet for a shining gloss-y look.
Optional Magnets
Materials Needed:
Magnets
Paper
Glass Rocks/Marbles
Mod Podge
Paint Brush/Sponge
Step 1:
Cut paper to fit the magnets. (Ignore the ugly carpet - it's been there since the four plex was built in the early 70's!)
Step 2:
After trial and error I would suggest painting the paper with Mod Podge then gluing it on to the glass rock, then the paper onto the magnet. That is the best way to get the color of the paper to show through.
Step 3:
Admire your work!
